Take two

Second time is a charm!! You might recognize this family. I did a session with them in May and towards the end of the shoot it started raining so we decided that we would do a mini session the next time that we could meet up. And so they stopped by the Cathedral for a quick shoot and we got some fantastic images. Most importantly, grandma (who came along to help) was able to get little guy to smile. Yay! It's more than what we could have asked for.

Since our session Kate and I have been emailing back and forth about sessions and I've been reading her blog about running (she's an AMAZING! runner) and it just so happens that she is coming through Lexington on the 4th and so we're going to meet up or have dinner or do something fun like that. This perhaps is the best part about my job: meeting amazing people and being able to stay in contact with them. I hope you all like your sneak peek! Images will be coming soon.

DC Family

I love that I am getting so many chances to shoot in Washington DC with my photography business. I met this family through yet another blog if you can believe it! They are very athletic (mom and dad met while playing rugby) and were on their way to a rugby match after we finished shooting. Their little boy was a doll! So inquisitive, happy, full of smiles and laughs. We had a great morning to work with too: very little humidity, a nice breeze (sometimes a little too breezy) and beautiful light. I hope you all enjoy your sneak peek! There are many more wonderful pictures to come!

Fun with the ladies

As most of you know, my husband is a law student in Virginia. Every Tuesday night the wives, girlfriends, and/or fiancees meet up for what we refer to as TNLC: Tuesday Night Ladies Club. We each take a turn hosting and each Tuesday a different activity is planned. I hosted this past Tuesday and decided to do a little photo shoot. I wanted the practice and thought it could be fun. What girl wouldn't want to dress up, do her hair, makeup, clothes and have a great time with friends, all while having pictures taken... for free!? Someday I'll be on the other side of the lens but until then, here is what we wound up with. Enjoy!!

Session in Portland

Dear Jackie,

I hope I haven't kept you on the edge of your seat waiting for a sneak peek of your session. What a fun (and quick!) session. Your kiddos are absolutely adorable!! What a delight to photograph them and catch up on old times in between directions. Hopefully next time I'm in Portland we can do another session, this time, more relaxed. Enjoy your sneak peek!!

-Abbie

PS. Thought you would get a kick out of Ella and Tyler's first meeting (unedited... sorry). I would dare say it was love at first sight. :)

Maternity Shots

Just as we were driving to take pictures it started to pour. Luckily I had brought along cupcakes and so Ashley and I snacked on those a whole ten seconds (the time it took to inhale the yummiest cupcake I have ever made). We debated going to a covered area but I knew both of us really wanted to shoot in the garden. I felt somewhat limited with my shooting since the ground was not just soaked but actually had pools of water everywhere. Not quite the place I wanted to just lay down in. I guess I'm not that intense yet. Perhaps had I brought along a towel or change of clothes.

Ashley is my good friend from law school and is due in just two weeks (two weeks Ash!) and they have opted to wait till the little one makes his/her appearance to find out the gender. Very exciting if you ask me but I don't know if I would have the patience. I can't wait to get him/her on "film" in the hospital. You better call me the day he/she gets here!! :) I'm rooting for a boy since Ashley already has two little girls.

Allie the grad

Congrats to Allie who will be graduating Thursday! When Allie set up her appointment she warned me that she didn't like having her picture taken. I was fairly warned... except that while we were in the middle of the session I asked her how she was feeling and she told me that she was having such a fun time that she might just look into modeling. :) It was so fun to hang out with Allie... it reminded me exactly why I enjoy taking pictures so much.

Speaking of enjoying taking pictures, I'm looking into coming up to DC again. Please contact me if you're interested!
