Reduced prices and new product!

I am very excited to be able to post about the 3"x3" accordion album. One of my clients was so kind to let me photograph her album and post it on the blog so that I can show everyone just how perfect these are. First the stats:

-3 inches by 3 inches
-cover is a faux leather or canvas. You pick the color
-perfect gift idea for mothers, fathers, grandmas, grandpas, aunts and uncles... especially when you have a young child whose pictures will be inside (in other words, a great "brag" book).
-includes 10 separate images

There is a minimum order of three (mandated by my lab).

Second, I have decided to lower my session fee prices and a few of my print prices. Please let me know if you are interested in a session as I will only be doing a few per month.

New product: Custom collages

I have been working on some custom/storyboard collages for a customer and thought that I would share them for everyone to see. They come from a photo shoot I did a few weeks ago. I came up with some ideas for templates and then painstakingly put the images in. Even with the help of rulers in Photoshop it took a lot of time. But it was fun in a sense... kind of reminded me of putting puzzles together as a kid.

National Cathedral Family Session

These guys are awesome; you know, the type of people that you feel comfortable around, that you don't worry about whether what you just said was taken the wrong way... those type of people. While talking we found out that we had a common friend from our college days. I'm certain I saw him while doing undergrad work in college. And their little boy was adorable too! I just find myself loving my job the more I do it! How great is it that I get to spend my time with fantastic families who have cute kids and just snap away!? I would say that I am definitely lucky. The people I meet doing this are amazing and I am constantly learning and appreciating life more from watching them. M & A (and little one!) thanks so much for a wonderful (and humid) evening. I had a fantastic time and I hope you did too! Enjoy your sneak peek!

DC Family

The way I wound up doing a session with Kate and her family is completely awesome! She and I are both runners who have been reading the blog of another runner who ran during her entire pregnancy. I leave comments every now and then on the blog and one day Kate clicked on my profile and saw my photography blog listed. She checked it out, realized I often shot in DC and got in touch with me. It worked out perfectly! I was already coming up to DC and had time to do an additional session.

I am sure this will sound completely cliche but I love meeting and working with families like Kate's. To watch a mom and dad interact with their child is precious and I feel inspired and uplifted after each session. I feel honored to take part in a small moment of their life and capture it on "film". :) Kate and John, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek! It was tough picking which ones to put up.

Megan + Patrick

Patrick and Megan met when she was looking at law schools. He was giving tours and made sure that he got to have dinner with Megan that night. When she came to school the next year they began dating and later got engaged. Their wedding, late this summer, will be in beautiful Portland, Oregon. Their chemistry is undeniable and incredibly sweet. The way they look at one another, the way they make each other laugh... every action shows how much they love each other. Shooting their engagement session was a blast and I felt that I had to give them hugs at the end I had such a great time. Thank you Patrick and Megan! I loved our session!

I find this photo appropriate since Patrick is 100% Irish.

Off for the weekend

We're heading up to DC this weekend. My brother flies in from the West Coast and we're going to pick him up tomorrow, explore DC and I was even able to schedule a couple of photo shoots. I love DC and am happy to be able to go back to some of my favorite spots to shoot!

I've been wanting to attend workshops offered by some of the photographers I follow but I don't have anywhere near the thousands of dollars the workshops require. Any advice? There is one that opens up tomorrow for registrations. It's called the Learnfest and from what I've heard about it, it is one of the workshops to attend particularly if you are new, looking for ways to boost sales, gain more confidence, etc. I know that attending this workshop could possibly change my business for the better. But is it worth taking out a loan for? These are the questions going through my mind right now. I just wish I had $3000 to spare...

Graduates galor

The next few posts will be dedicated to the many law school graduates I did mini-sessions with. Again I have felt some sadness that I didn't do something similar when I graduated. Instead, I just have snapshots that are blurry, are too bright because of a flash or half of my body is cut off. :) I have learned my lesson though. We will be getting professional pictures done more often.

Alan is a good friend of ours. He has a job out in sunny California and we already miss their family. I found out the next day that he wasn't feeling well during the shoot but he was a good sport and stuck it out without me ever knowing.

Family Session

I was afraid this family session might never take place. The first time we scheduled it was extremely dark and then began raining 5 minutes into the session. We rescheduled and it rained again, rescheduled and then one family member was sick. When we finally were able to meet up the weather was forecasting thunderstorms but we beat nature and did our shoot.

Shooting with this family was so much fun! They were up for any suggestions I had, wanted to include their family dog Starbuck, and we even found out that we attended rival schools in Utah. Who would have thought!? I hope you all enjoy this sneak peek! I should have your photos finished soon. :)

Good ol' Starbuck. This dog is definitely loved.

One of my favorites.

Julie, the mom, had the most infectious smile!
